BY-LAW NO. 1416 BY-LAW NO.1416 A By-law of Camrose County in the Province of Alberta, introduced for the Controlling and Regulating the use of highways within the Camrose County. 1. Subject to the Traffic Safety Act R.S.A. 2000 Chapter T-6 and the Dangerous Goods Transportation and Handling Act and amendments thereto, a council of a municipality may for the physical preservation of a highway under its direction, control and management, including any bridge that forms part of that highway, make By-laws restricting the weight of a commercial vehicle or a commercial vehicle and any goods being carried by the vehicle, to weight that is less than the weight that may be borne under the Traffic Safety Act. NOW THEREFORE Council of the Camrose County in the Province of Alberta duly assembled hereby enacts as follows: This By-law may be cited as "Weight Restriction By-law". 2. Where there is a conflict between a By-law made under subsection (1) and a provision of the Traffic Safety Act or a permit, the Traffic Safety Act or the permit, as the case may be, prevails. 3. Council is authorized to (a) prohibit the use of a highway by a traction engine or commercial vehicle, for a period or periods that Council determines. (b) Increase, limit or restrict the maximum gross weight that may be borne by a tire or axle or an axle group, or any of them, or combination of vehicles on a highway, for a period or periods that the Council determines when the Council is of the opinion that the prohibition, limitations or restriction is necessary for the preservation of the highway. 4. No person may operate a vehicle on a highway if the gross weight borne on an axle, axle group or all axles is in excess of the maximum allowable weights established by a Vehicle Weight Committee Order unless authorized by the County. 5. County Council may delegate its authority to issue Special Permits to the County Administrator or his delegate(s). By-law 1045 is hereby rescinded.
