BYLAW NO. 1135/2017
No Smoking Bylaw
Being a Bylaw of the Village of Delburne, in the Province of Alberta,
with respect to no smoking within Village Buildings or Vehicles.
WHEREAS Section 204(a) of the Municipal Government Act provides that a Municipal
Council may enact a Bylaw to promote a healthy and safe workplace for all employees and
members of the public entering the Village Office; for employees working in the Public
Works Shop and operating any vehicle or piece of Village equipment.
NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Village of Delburne duly assembled,
enacts as follows:
1.
This Bylaw may be cited as "No Smoking Bylaw"
2.
In the Bylaw:
a)
"Village" means the Village of Delburne
b)
"Smoke" or "Smoking" includes the carrying of a lighted cigar,
cigarette, pipe or any other lighted smoking equipment.
3.
Signage will be posted in the entrance of the Village Office, Public Works
shop or any Village vehicle.
4.
Offenders will be dealt with in the following manner:
a)
Staff of the Village Office will ask the offender(s) to put out their cigar,
cigarette, pipe or any other lighted smoking equipment.
b)
If the offender will not comply, Staff of the Village of Delburne will
request the offender(s) to leave the premises.
c)
All staff are expected to adhere to this Bylaw or appropriate
disciplinary procedures will be followed.
5.
Bylaw 884 shall be rescinded upon this Bylaw coming into force.

reading.
