## VILLAGE OF DONALDA ## IN THE VILLAGE OF DONALDA BYLAW # 718 APPOINTED MUNICIPAL ASSESSOR BYLAW ## A BYLAW OF THE VIILAGE OF DONALDA IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA, TO APPOINT AND DESIGNATE AN ASSESSOR. WHEREAS pursuant to the Municipal Government Act, Council may create a designated officer position to carry out certain duties and responsibilities under the Municipal Government Act; WHEREAS the Village of Donalda Council wishes to create a designated officer position to carry out the powers, duties and functions of the assessor under the Municipal Government Act as municipal assessor; NOW THEREFORE, the Council of Village of Donalda, in the Province of Alberta, hereby enacts as follows: ## 1. Title - 1.1 This Bylaw may be cited as the "Municipal Assessor Bylaw"; ## 2. Interpretation - 2.1 "Act" means the Municipal Government Act RSA 2000, c-M.26 and regulations as amended from time to time; - 2.2 "Assessor" shall mean the person appointed by Council resolution to the position of designated officer known as the Assessor; - 2.3 "Bylaw" means the Village of Donalda Bylaw #718; - 2.4 "Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)" means the person appointed to the position of Chief Administrative Officer by the Council of the Village of Donalda and includes any person that the Chief Administrative Officer may appoint as his/her designate for the purposes of carrying out his/her responsibilities and further, includes any person that may be appointed to act in the absence of the Chief Administrative Officer; - 2.5 "Council" is the members of Council of Village of Donalda elected pursuant to the Local Authorities Election Act; - 2.6 "Village" is the Village of Donalda; ## 3. Municipal Assessor 1. The position of municipal assessor is hereby created as a designated officer for the Village of Donalda. 2. The powers and duties of the municipal assessor shall be: 3. 2.1 To carry out all obligations imposed upon the municipal assessor pursuant to the Municipal Government Act R.S.A. 2000 C. M-26 and regulations made thereunder; 4. 2.2 To carry out all duties delegated to the municipal assessor by bylaw or resolution of Council or by any other statute, regulation, or order of the Province of Alberta either prior to or subsequent to the passage of this bylaw; 5. 2.3 To delegate the performance of any duties, powers, obligations of the municipal assessor to such person or corporation as the municipal assessor finds appropriate; 6. 2.4 The Chief Administrative Officer is authorized to appoint a qualified individual as the municipal assessor. If no individual is appointed to the position of municipal assessor, the Chief Administrative Officer shall delegate the performance of any duties, powers or obligations of an assessor under the Municipal Government Act to a person who meets the qualifications required pursuant to the Act and regulations. ## 4. Enactment 1. Bylaw #647 of the Village of Donalda is hereby rescinded. This bylaw comes into force upon third and final reading.
