## Regional Solid Waste Authority Bylaw 05-2012 A BYLAW OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF THE TOWN OF HIGH PRAIRIE, IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA, TO PROVIDE THE VOTING MEMBER AUTHORITY TO VOTE ON THE MATTER OF ACCEPTING NEW MEMBERS TO THE COMMITTEE OF THE REGIONAL SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY WHEREAS: The Town of High Prairie is a member of the Regional Solid Waste Management Authority AND WHEREAS: the agreement creating the said authority requires amendment; NOW THEREFORE: Council of the Town of High Prairie, in the Province of Alberta, Duly Assembled, Enacts as Follows: 1. Paragraph 1 of the Bylaw 5/93 is amended by deleting paragraph 1 and replacing it with the following: 2. An agreement be effected between the Town of High Prairie, the East Prairie Metis Settlement, the Gift Lake Metis' Settlement, the Municipal District of Big Lakes and such other local Government bodies as may be approved by the representatives of the participating parties pursuant to the terms of the said agreement, to allow for the formation and operation of a Regional Waste Management Authority., The Administration of the Municipal District of Big Lakes is authorized to approve and execute amendments to the said agreement if recommended by the participating parties." A drafted bylaw created by Reynolds Mirth Richards & Farmer LLP to allow the acceptance of new members from time to time as approved by a majority vote of the Regional Waste Authority was presented to each partner at the March 27, 2012 High Prairie & District Solid Waste Management Authority Meeting. A copy of the bylaw has been attached for your reference. A Partner Bylaw Amendment is required in order to accept new partners onto the authority. Please note that a bylaw amendment is required by each partner that originally passed a bylaw to enter into the Regional Waste Authority. The Town of Swan Hills has patiently been waiting to be accepted into the Authority since late 2011. The Regional Waste Authority requests that all Partner Bylaw Amendments be completed and submitted to the authority as soon as possible.
