BYLAW 1687-2022
TOWN OF INNISFAIL
RATES AND FEES BYLAW
WHEREAS , pursuant to Section 7 of the Municipal Government Act ("Act"), RSA 2000, Chapter
M-26, Innisfail Town Council may pass bylaws for municipal purposes respecting services
provided by or on behalf of a municipality;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 8 the Act provides for a municipality to pass bylaws to establish
fees for licences, permits and approvals on behalf of the municipality;
WHEREAS, section 334(1) of the Act states a Council may by bylaw impose penalties in the year
in which a tax is imposed if the tax remains unpaid after the date shown on the tax notice;
WHEREAS, section 345(1) of the Act states a Council may by bylaw impose penalties in any
year following the year in which a tax is imposed if the tax remains unpaid after December 31 of
the year in which it is imposed;
WHEREAS, Section 481 of the Act provides for a municipality to pass bylaws to set fees payable
by persons wishing to make complaints or to be involved as a party or intervenor in a hearing
before an assessment review board;
NOW THEREFORE THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF INNISF AIL, IN THE
PROVINCE OF ALBERTA, DULY ASSEMBLED, ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1) This bylaw shall be called "The Rates and Fees Bylaw";
2) That the Fees, Rates and Charges be established by this Bylaw as attached Schedule "A" and
form part of this bylaw;
3) That the method of payment for Fees, Rates and Charges to be at the discretion of the Town of
Innisfail;
4) That the rates, fees and charges in this bylaw shall be-reviewed annually by Town Council as
part of the annual budget preparation, unless a rate, fee, or charge listed in Schedule "A"
indicates a specific review date.
5) That following the annual review of rates, fees and charges in this bylaw, amendments to bylaw
will have an effective date of January 1st of each year.
