Page 1 of 1 BYLAW 120-21 SUMMER VILLAGE OF ISLAND LAKE SOUTH A BYLAW TO RESTRICT THE USE OF FERTILIZERS AND HERBICIDES WITHIN THE SUMMER VILLAGE OF ISLAND LAKE SOUTH. WHEREAS, Municipal government Act being chapter M-26 of the Revised Statues of Alberta, 2000, Part 2, Sections 7&8 and amendments thereto, authorizes the Council of a local Municipality to pass a Bylaw regulating the safety, health and welfare of people and the protection of people and property; AND WHEREAS, there is a desire for the Summer Village of Island Lake South to have restrictions on the use of lawn fertilizers; AND WHEREAS, the Summer Village of Island Lake South would encourage other municipalities around Island Lake to pass similar bylaws; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Summer Village of Island Lake South enacts as follows: 1. The use of fertilizers other than natural compost on lawns is prohibited within the Summer Village of Island Lake South. 2. All chemical herbicides are prohibited within the Summer Village of Island Lake South except for the control of noxious and prohibited noxious weeds as defined in the Weed Control Act. 3. The bylaw comes into effect on the date of the third reading. READ a first time this 11th day of June 2021. READ a second time this 11th day of June 2021.
