Page 1 of 1 BYLAW 121-21 SUMMER VILLAGE OF ISLAND LAKE SOUTH A BYLAW TO AMEND BYLAW 99-16, BEING A BYLAW PROVIDING FOR REGULATION OF THE TREATMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF PRIVATE SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEMS. WHEREAS, Municipal government Act being chapter M-26 of the Revised Statues of Alberta, 2000, Part 2, Sections 7&8 and amendments thereto, authorizes the Council of a local Municipality to pass a Bylaw regulating the safety, health and welfare of people and the protection of people and property; AND WHEREAS, the Council of the Summer Village of Island Lake South deems it expedient and in the best interests of property owners, that the existing bylaw be amended, rather than replaced; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Summer Village of Island Lake South enacts the following amendment: 1. Definitions a. "Outhouse" shall mean a physical structure not attached to the principle dwelling, used for the purpose of sewage disposal whereby sewage is deposited into an earthen pit; b. "Privy" shall mean a physical structure, not attached to the principle dwelling, used for the purpose of sewage disposal whereby sewage is deposited in a water tight holding tank with a capacity of at least 175 liters and is installed and maintained in compliance with Sewage Bylaw 99-16 2. Amendment All Outhouses must be removed and replaced with a Privy equipped with a water-tight Holding Tank no later than June 1, 2024. READ a first time this 25th day of August 2021.
