A BYLAW OF THE SUMMER VILLAGE OF ITASKA BEACH TO ESTABLISH ALTERNATE
METHODS FOR ADVERTISING STATUTORY NOTICES
WHEREAS, the Municipal Government Act requires that a Municipality advertise bylaws,
resolutions, meetings, public hearings and other things in accordance with Section 606 of the
Act;
AND WHEREAS pursuant to section 606.1(1) of the Municipal Government Act, a
council may, by bylaw, provide for one or more methods, which may include Electronic
Means, for advertising proposed bylaws, resolutions, meetings, public hearings and
other things referred to in section 606;
AND WHEREAS Council is satisfied that the advertising methods set out in this Bylaw
are likely to bring matters advertised by that method to the attention of substantially all
residents in the area to which the bylaw, resolution or other thing relates or in which
the meeting or hearing is to be held;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Summer Village of Itaska Beach, duly assembled, enacts
as follows:
1) SHORT TITLE
a) This Bylaw shall be known as the "Advertising Bylaw."
2) DEFINITIONS
a) In this Bylaw, words have the meanings set out in the Act, except that:
i) "Act" means the Municipal Government Act, R.S.A. 2000, c. M-26, and associated
regulations, as amended;
ii) "Convenience Copy" means a Statutory Notice that is provided for public
consumption in another format than outlined in section 3.01 of this Bylaw.
iii) "Electronic Means" means any method of conveying information digitally.
iv) "Email" means a method of conveying information digitally to a specific recipient or
multiple specific recipients
v) "Municipality" means the Summer Village of Itaska Beach.
vi) "Statutory Notices" means those notices and/or advertisements including those
proposed bylaws, resolutions, meetings, public hearings and other items as required
to be advertised by the "Act".

vii) "Summer Village Website" means any web page under the itaska.ca domain
3) NOTIFICATION METHODS
a) Where a notice is advertised by Electronic Means:
i) The Municipality will advertise Statutory Notices by publishing those notices on the
Summer Village Website for a minimum of fourteen (14) days.
ii) Where the Municipality advertises Statutory Notices in accordance with Section 3a(i)
of this Bylaw, a Convenience Copy may also be sent by Email to those residences who
have provided their Email address to the Municipality, and by mail to those that the
Municipality does not have an Email address for.
iii) The Municipality may also choose to provide a Convenience Copy in addition to the
mandatory advertisement conducted in Section 3a, which may be produced in a
different format or with altered content by the following means:
(1) Notice board located at the Municipality
(2) Other means determined appropriate by the Municipality
4) SEVERABILITY
a) Each provision of this Bylaw is independent of, and severable from, all other provisions
and if any provision is declared invalid or unenforceable for any reason by a court of
competent jurisdiction, all other provisions of this Bylaw remain valid and enforceable.
5) COMING INTO FORCE
a) This Bylaw shall come into full force and effect upon final passing.
READ a first time this 22nd day of September, 2025.
READ a second time this 4th day of November, 2025.
READ a third time, and finally passed, this 4th day of November, 2025.
