BYLAW 26-1020
of the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16

A Bylaw of the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16, in the Province of Alberta
to provide for the rates of taxation to be levied against assessable property within the
Municipal District of Greenview No. 16 for the 2026 taxation year.
WHEREAS, the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16 has prepared and adopted detailed
estimates of the municipal revenues and expenditures as required, at the council meeting held on
April 28, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the estimated municipal expenditures and transfers set out in the budget for the
Municipality of Greenview No. 16 for 2026 total $184,945,904 and
WHEREAS, the estimated municipal revenues and transfers from all sources other than taxation is
estimated at $42,412,817 and the balance of $142,533,087 is to be raised by general municipal
taxation; and
WHEREAS, the requisitions are:
WHEREAS, the Council of the Municipality is required each year to levy on the assessed value of all
property, tax rates sufficient to meet the estimated expenditures and the requisitions; and
WHEREAS, the Council is authorized to classify assessed property, and to establish different rates
of taxation in respect to each class of property, subject to the Municipal Government Act, Chapter
M-26, Revised Statutes of Alberta, 2000; and

WHEREAS, the assessed value of all property in the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16 as
shown on the assessment roll is:

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16, in the Province of
Alberta, duly assembled, enacts as follows:
1. TITLE
1.1. This Bylaw may be cited as "Tax Bylaw 2026".
2. AUTHORIZATION
2.1. That the Chief Administrative Officer is hereby authorized to levy the following rates of
taxation on the assessed value of all property as shown on the assessment roll of the
Municipal District of Greenview No. 16:

2.2. The minimum amount payable as property tax for general municipal purposes shall be
$30.00.
3. DUE DATES
3.1. Non-Residential taxes are due and payable on June 30, 2026.
3.2. Residential/Farmland taxes are due and payable on November 16, 2026.
4. PENALTIES
4.1. In the event of any current taxes remaining unpaid for Non-Residential after June 30,
2026, there shall be levied a penalty of 8%, on July 1, 2026.
4.2. In the event of any current taxes remaining unpaid for Residential/Farmland after
November 16, 2026, there shall be levied a penalty of 8%, November 17, 2026.
4.3. In the event of any current taxes remaining unpaid after December 31, 2026, there
shall be levied a penalty of 10% on January 1, 2027.
4.4. In the event of any arrear's taxes remaining unpaid after December 31, 2026, there
shall be levied a penalty of 18% on January 1, 2027, and in each succeeding year thereafter,
so long as the taxes remain unpaid.

5. IDEMNIFICATION
5.1. If any portion of this bylaw is declared invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, then the
invalid portion must be severed, and the remainder of the bylaw is deemed valid.
6. COMING INTO FORCE
6.1. This Bylaw shall come into force and effect upon the day of third and final reading.
