TOWN OF RAYMOND
BYLAW NO. 901-03
CONSOLIDATION OF A BYLAW OF THE TOWN OF RAYMOND PURSUANT TO
PART 1 AND PART 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ACT TO REGULATE
OPEN BURNING IN THE TOWN OF RAYMOND.
THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF RAYMOND, IN THE PROVINCE OF
ALBERTA, DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS;
1. This Bylaw may be cited as the Regulation of Open Burning Bylaw of the Town
of Raymond.
2. No person in the Town of Raymond shall burn any material or thing in an open
area.
3. Notwithstanding Clause 2 it shall not be an offence under this Clause to conduct:
a. The barbecuing of food in locations permitted pursuant to the provisions
of the Fire Prevention Act and Regulations;
b. Burning in enclosed fire pits on private property, provided the fuel is
limited to small amounts of dry wood, propane or natural gas and that the
smoke is not offensive to the neighbourhood;
i. Despite provision (b) above, it shall be an offence to have a fire if
wind gusts exceed 40km/h.
c. Burning in fireplaces in or attached to dwellings;
d. Burning in contained campground and picnic fireplaces and stoves in
parks in the Town of Raymond;
i. Despite provision (d) above, it shall be an offence to have a fire if
wind gusts exceed 40km/h.
e. Burning in an incinerator for which a Permit to Construct and a License to
Operate pursuant to the provisions of the Clean Air Act and Regulations
has been issued.
f. A Peace Officer or Bylaw Enforcement Officer, Fire Chief or designate, or
RCMP officer can order any of the fires described above to be shut down if
they deem it to be unsafe.

4. A person who contravenes any provisions of this Bylaw is guilty of an offence
and liable to a fine of $450.00. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer of the Town of
Raymond and any RCMP Officer are hereby authorized and empowered to issue
a violation ticket pursuant to part II of the Provincial Offences Procedure Act of
the Statutes of Alberta, being Chapter P-21.5 and as amended.
5. That this bylaw shall take effect on the date of the third and final reading.
