## VILLAGE OF RYLEY BYLAW NO. 2024-983
## A BYLAW FOR THE VILLAGE OF RYLEY, IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING A MUNICIPAL PUBLIC WATER UTILITY
WHEREAS, Pursuant to the Municipal Government Act, R.S.A. 2000, Chapter M26, hereinafter called the "Act", as amended, a municipal Council has broad authority to pass bylaws respecting the municipality, including services provided by or on behalf of the municipality; and
WHEREAS, Pursuant to the Act, a Council may pass bylaws for municipal purposes respecting public utilities;
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 45 of the Act, the Municipality had granted a Franchise to Highway 14 Regional Water Services Commission to provide water utility services thoughout the Municipality and is desirous to provide water through a Municipal Public Utility Service.
NOW THEREFORE under the authority of the Municipal Government Act, the Council of the Village of Ryley, in the Province of Alberta, duly assembled, enacts as follows:
1. The Village of Ryley will provide Municipal Water Public Utility Services effective February 1, 2025;
2. The Village of Ryley shall take over and manage the water distribution system within the Village of Ryley municipal boundaries;
3. Pursuant to Section 33 of the Act, the Village of Ryley hereby prohibits any person other than the municipality from providing the same or a similar type of water utility service in all or part of the municipality; and
4. That this bylaw shall take effect on the date of the third and final reading and hereby rescinds the 1992 Franchise Agreement Bylaw No. 1992-01.
