A BYLAW OF THE SUMMER VILLAGE OF SILVER BEACH TO ESTABLISH ALTERNATE
METHODS FOR ADVERTISING STATUTORY NOTICES
WHEREAS, the Municipal Government Act requires that a Municipality advertise bylaws,
resolutions, meetings, public hearings and other things in accordance with Section 606 of the
Act;
AND WHEREAS pursuant to section 606.1(1) of the Municipal Government Act, a
council may, by bylaw, provide for one or more methods, which may include Electronic
Means, for advertising proposed bylaws, resolutions, meetings, public hearings and
other things to be advertised under section 606;
AND WHEREAS Council is satisfied that the advertising methods set out in this Bylaw
are likely to bring matters advertised by that method to the attention of substantially all
residents in the area to which the bylaw, resolution or other thing relates or in which
the meeting or hearing is to be held;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Summer Village of Silver Beach, duly assembled, enacts
as follows:
1) SHORT TITLE
a) This Bylaw shall be known as the "Advertising Bylaw."
2) DEFINITIONS
a) In this Bylaw, words have the meanings set out in the Act, except that:
i) "Act" means the Municipal Government Act, R.S.A. 2000, c. M-26, and associated
regulations, as amended;
ii) "Convenience Copy" means a Statutory Notice that is provided for public
consumption in another format than outlined in section 3.01 of this Bylaw.
iii) "Electronic Means" means any method of conveying information digitally.
iv) "Email" means a method of conveying information digitally to a specific recipient or
multiple specific recipients
v) "Municipality" means the Summer Village of Silver Beach.
vi) "Statutory Notices" means those notices and/or advertisements including those
proposed bylaws, resolutions, meetings, public hearings and other items as required
to be advertised by the "Act".

vii) "Summer Village Website" means any web page under the silverbeach.ca domain
3) NOTIFICATION METHODS
a) A Statutory Notice shall be advertised by Electronic Means by publishing it on the
Municipality's website for fourteen (14) days.
b) Where the Municipality advertised a Statutory Notice in accordance with section 3(a) of
this Bylaw, a Convenience Copy may also be sent by Email to residents who have provided
their Email address to the Municipality and by mail to those residents for whom the
Municipality does not have an Email address.
c) The chief administrative officer of the Municipality may also provide a Convenience Copy
in addition to the advertisement conducted in section 3(b), in a different or altered format,
by:
(i) posting on a notice board located in the Municipality; or
(ii) any other means determined appropriated by the chief administrative office.
4) SEVERABILITY
a) Each provision of this Bylaw is independent of, and severable from, all other provisions
and if any provision is declared invalid or unenforceable for any reason by a court of
competent jurisdiction, all other provisions of this Bylaw remain valid and enforceable.
5) COMING INTO FORCE
a) This Bylaw shall come into full force and effect upon final passing.
