## DEFINITIONS
1. Council means the duly elected council of The Village of Stirling.
2. County means the County of Warner.
3. County of Warner means County of Warner as a municipal corporation and the geographical area within its jurisdiction boundaries, as the context requires.
## VILLAGE OF STIRLING
## IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA BYLAW #499-20 ADVERTISING AND PUBLIC NOTIFICATION BYLAW
A Bylaw of the Village of Stirling in the Province of Alberta, pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Government Act, being Chapter M-26 of the Statutes of Alberta 2000 and amendments thereto, to establish alternative methods for advertising statutory notices.
WHEREAS pursuant to section 606 of the Municipal Government Act, a council must give notice of certain bylaws, resolutions, meetings, public hearings or other things by advertising in a newspaper of other publication circulating in the area, mailing or delivering a notice to every residence in the affected area or by another method provided for in a bylaw under section 606.1;
AND WHEREAS, pursuant to section 606.1 (1) of the Municipal Government Act, a council may, by bylaw, provide for one or more methods, which may include electronic means, for advertising proposed bylaws, resolutions, meetings, public hearings and other things referred to in section 606;
AND WHEREAS Council is satisfied that the advertising method set out in this Bylaw is likely to bring matters advertised by that method to the attention of substantially all residents in the area to which the bylaw, resolution or other thing relates or in which the meeting or hearing is to be held.
NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Village of Stirling, in the Province of Alberta, duly assembled, enacts as follows:
## Short Title
1. This Bylaw may be referred to as the Advertising Bylaw or Public Notification Bylaw
## Advertising Methods
2. Any notice required to be advertised under section 606 of the Municipal Government Act or a bylaw, resolution, meeting, public hearing, or other thing may be given, in accordance with the timelines prescribed in section 606,
- Published in a local weekly newspaper
- Electronically by the Village's social media sites
- Electronically by the Village's official website (stirling.ca)
- by posting the notice on the electronic bulletin board
4. Municipal Government Act means the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, c M-26, as amended or replaced from time to time.
5. Detailed Notice means a notice containing all of the information required under section 606 of the Municipal Government Act.
6. Social Media means any electronic online form of communication through which groups of users share information and content.

## SEVERABILITY
If any provision of this Bylaw is declared invalid for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, all other provisions of this Bylaw will remain valid and enforceable.
## Effective Date
Bylaw 499-20, being the Public Notification Bylaw, is passed and comes into full force effect when it receives third reading and is signed by the Mayor and the Chief Administrative Officer or their designate pursuant to the Municipal Government Act.
