BYLAW 2732/G/25
BEING A BYLAW OF THE TOWN OF STONY PLAIN IN THE PROVINCE OF
ALBERTA TO ESTABLISH FEES AND CHARGES FOR THE PROVISION OF
CERTAIN LICENCES, GOODS AND SERVICES
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, c. M-26, and amendments
thereto, a municipality has the authority to establish fees and charges for the provision of
services provided by or on behalf of the municipality; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, c. M-26, and amendments
thereto, a council may in a bylaw establish the fees for licences, permits and approvals,
including fees for licences, permits and approvals that may be in the nature of a reasonable tax
for the activity authorized or for the purpose of raising revenue;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Town of Stony Plain in the Province of Alberta, duly
assembled, hereby enacts as follows:
1.0.0
Title
1.1.0
This bylaw may be cited as the "2026 Fees and Charges Bylaw".
2.0.0 Definitions
2.1.0
"Minor Groups - Local" means the majority of members must be 18 years of age or
under and residing within the Town of Stony Plain, Parkland County and the City of
Spruce Grove.
2.2.0
"Adult Groups - Local" means the majority of members must be over the age of 18
and residing in the Town of Stony Plain, Parkland County and the City of Spruce
Grove.
2.3.0
"Non Local Groups" means regardless of age, the majority of the members are
residing outside of the Town of Stony Plain, Parkland County and the City of Spruce
Grove.
2.4.0
"Commercial/Alcohol Groups" means any group/individual regardless of residence
utilizing a facility as a business and holding a business license and/or any function
which involves the consumption of alcohol.
2.5.0
"Non-Residential" means any business operations defined as Commercial, Industrial
or Institutional which include hospitals, assembly plants, storage warehouses,
shopping centers, office spaces, or any other location for business owners.
3.0.0
General
3.1.0
That the fees and charges be established by this bylaw as attached Schedule "A" and
form part of this bylaw. (Bylaw 2736/G/26, May 11, 2026)
4.0.0
Severability
4.1.0
If any portion of this bylaw is declared invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction,
then the invalid portion must be severed and the remainder of the bylaw is deemed
valid.
5.0.0
Review
5.1.0
This bylaw shall be reviewed annually.
6.0.0
Effective Date
6.1.0
This bylaw shall take full force and effect January 1, 2026.

Late Payment Penalty
Where any taxes levied for the current year remains unpaid, such current unpaid taxes are
subject to a penalty calculated as 2.5% on the first day of July, August, September,
October, November, December.
Where any taxes are not paid on or before the 31st day of December of the current year, all
taxes remaining unpaid in the subsequent calendar year are subject to a penalty thereon of
15% per annum calculated at the rate of 1.25% on the first day of the month.
