SUMMER VILLAGE OF SUNSET POINT FIRE EXTINGUISHING COSTS BYLAW NO. 241 A BYLAW TO AUTHORIZE THE ADDDITION OF ANY FIRE EXTINGUISHING COSTS TO THE TAX ROLL Whereas, pursuant to the provisions of Sections 553(1)(g) of the Municipal Government Act, 1994, Chapter M26.1, R.S.A., and the amendments thereto, the Council may pass a bylaw making the owner of a parcel of land liable for the costs and expenses related to the Municipality extinguishing fires on the parcel, and permitting the Council to add the amounts of such costs to the tax roll of the parcel of land. Therefore the Council of the summer village of Sunset Point, in the Province of Alberta, duly assembled, enacts as follows: 1. In the event that the Summer Village of Sunset Point incurs costs or expenses to any other municipality or otherwise, in extinguishing fires on a parcel of land in the Summer Village of Sunset Point, the owner of such parcel shall be liable to the Summer Village of Sunset Point for all such costs and expenses. 2. In the event that the costs and expenses referred to in Paragraph 1 are not paid within thirty (30) days of demand, such costs and expenses may be added to the Tax Roll of the parcel of land on which the fire in question occurred and be recovered as permitted by law. 3. Each separate provision of this Bylaw shall be deemed independent of all other provisions, and if any provisions of this Bylaw be declared invalid, all other provisions shall remain valid and enforceable. 4. That this bylaw shall take effect on the date of the third and final reading.
