## Bylaw No.1502-24
## TAXATION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Being a Bylaw of the Town of Three Hills in the Province of Alberta, to provide for the taxation of affordable housing units in accordance with the Municipal Government Act.
WHEREAS, Section 362(1)(m)(ii) of the Municipal Government Act, S.A. 2000, Chapter M-26, provides that affordable housing units are exempt from taxation;
AND WHEREAS, Section 363(2) provides that a council may by bylaw make any property referred to in Section 362(1) subject to taxation to any extent the council considers appropriate;
AND WHEREAS, the Town of Three Hills desires to make affordable housing units subject to taxation;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Town of Three Hills in the Province of Alberta, duly assembled, hereby enacts as follows:
## BYLAW TITLE
- 1.1 This bylaw shall be known as the "Taxation of Affordable Housing."
## 2. TAXATION
- 2.1 Affordable housing units shall be taxed for all municipal purposes.
- 2.2 Affordable housing units shall not be taxed for:
- 2.2.1 requisitions required by the Alberta School Foundation Fund, and
- 2.2.2 requisitions required by Kneehill Housing Corporation.
- 2.3 The Chief Administrative Officer is authorized to exercise appropriate managerial judgment to take such actions as may be necessary to achieve the purpose of this bylaw.
## 3. ENACTMENT
This Bylaw shall come into force and effect upon the date of the passing of the third and final reading and signing thereof.
