## TOWN OF THREE HILLS
## Bylaw No.1411-17
## TAXATION OF STUDENT DORMITORIES
Being a Bylaw of the Town of Three Hills in the Province of Alberta, to provide for the taxation of student dormitories owned by Prairie Bible Institute in accordance with the Municipal Government Act, and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
WHEREAS, Section 363(1)(d) of the Municipal Government Act, S.A. 2000, Chapter M-26, provides that student dormitories are exempt from taxation;
AND WHEREAS, Section 363(3) provides that a council may by bylaw make any property referred to in subsection (1)(d) subject to taxation to any extent the council considers appropriate;
AND WHEREAS, the Town of Three Hills desires to make student dormitories subject to taxation;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Town of Three Hills in the Province of Alberta, duly assembled, hereby enacts as follows:
## Part 1: BYLAW TITLE
1. This bylaw shall be known as the "Taxation of Student Dormitories"
1. Student dormitories shall be taxed for all municipal purposes.
2. Student dormitories shall not be taxed for:
- a. requisitions required by the Alberta School Foundation Fund, and
- b. requisitions required by Kneehill Housing Corporation
Part II: DEFINITIONS
Council:
the Council of the Town of Three Hills
Dormitories: a housing unit as defined in Section 326 (b) of the Municipal Government Act, S.A. 2000, Chapter M-26
Town:
the Municipal Corporation of the Town of Three Hills
## Part III: TAXATION
## Part IV: REPEAL
- Bylaw No. 1113-95 in its entirety is hereby repealed.
## Part V: ENACTMENT
This Bylaw shall come into force and effect upon the date of the passing of the third and final reading and signing thereof.
