## TOWN OF TROCHU BYLAW NO. 2024-08 ## BEING A BYLAW IN THE TOWN OF TROCHU IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA TO AMEND ANIMAL CONTROL BYLAW NO. 2016-05 WHEREAS pursuant to the provision of Section 639 of the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, Chapter M-26, the Council of the Town of Trochu, in the Province of Alberta (hereinafter called the Council), has adopted Animal Control Bylaw No. 2016-05 AND WHEREAS the Council, deems it necessary and desirable to amend Animal Control Bylaw No. 2016-05; and NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Town of Trochu, duly assembled, hereby enacts as follows: 1. In Part 2, Definitions, under item w) "Livestock", remove the following: "v. a member of the avian species, including chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese or pheasants," 2. In Part 4, Specific Prohibitions, Section 4.2, change c) to: "с) fowl, other than those chickens licensed as per the Urban Hen Bylaw;" 3. In Part 5, Licensing of Animals, change Section 5.6 under Requirements of Licenses to: "Every Owner named on a Town Dog, Cat, or Urban Hen license shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age" 4. In Part 5, Licensing of Animals, add the following section under Requirements of Licenses: "5.10 Every resident of the Town of Trochu who is the Owner of chickens must obtain and annually renew a license as per the Urban Hen Bylaw" 5. In Part 5, Licensing of Animals, add the following section under Number of Animals: "5.17 Any person who has a valid license under the Urban Hen Bylaw may keep a number of hens as per those regulations and that number does not count towards the limits described in sections 5.14, 5.15, and 5.16" 6. Update the numbering in all Parts to retain logical order after the above amendments are made. 7. This Bylaw takes effect on the date of the third and final reading.
