## TOWN OF WAINWRIGHT BYLAW NO. 2023 - 08
A BYLAW TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT OF TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAYS AND IN SCHOOL ZONES WITHIN THE TOWN OF WAINWRIGHT
PURSUANT to the Municipal Government Act R.S.A. 2000, Chapter M26, as amended, the Council of the Town of Wainwright, in the Province of Alberta, duly assembled, does hereby enact:
A Bylaw of the Town of Wainwright, in the Province of Alberta to provide for the regulation, control and management of vehicle traffic in school zones on highways within the town.
WHEREAS the Traffic Safety Act, R.S.A. 2000, Chapter T-6 and amendments thereto, provides that a municipality may make bylaws to regulate, manage and control vehicle traffic in school zones located on highways within the municipality;
WHEREAS the Municipal Government Act, R.S.A. 2000, and amendments thereto, gives a municipality certain powers with respect to highways within the municipality;
NOW THEREFORE, the Town of Wainwright desires to establish the following highways as a School Zone and will follow the regulations set out in the School Zone Regulation Bylaw:
- 2nd Avenue (from 13th Street to 14th Street)
- Not including the intersection at 2nd Avenue & 13th Street
- 2nd Avenue (from 8th Street to the middle of the 800 Block along 2nd Avenue)
- Including the intersection at 2nd Avenue & 8th Street
- gth Street (from 1st Avenue to 2nd Avenue)
- Not including the intersection at 8th Street & 1st Avenue
All streets at the above-mentioned highways will have traffic control devices at the appropriate locations displaying the zones, hours and speed limits. See Attachment A.
This Bylaw comes into effect upon the date of the final reading thereof.
