BYLAW NO 2100-25
(Consolidated Office Version - Updated March 10, 2026)
BEING A BYLAW OF THE CITY OF WETASKIWIN, IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA, TO
ESTABLISH RATES AND FEES FOR SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE CITY OF WETASKIWIN.
WHEREAS pursuant to section 7 of the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000 Chapter M-26, a
Council may pass bylaws for municipal purposes;
AND pursuant to section 8 of the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000 Chapter M-26, a Council may
pass bylaws for municipal purposes;
NOW THEREFORE under the authority of the Municipal Government Act, the Council of the City of
Wetaskiwin, in the Province of Alberta, enacts as follows:
1.
TITLE
1.1
This Bylaw may be cited as the Fees and Charges Bylaw.
1.2
That Schedules A, B, C (BL 2105-26), D, E, F, G, H, I, and J attached to and being part of
the Fees and Charges Bylaw may be amended from year to year.
2.
DEFINTIONS
2.1
In this bylaw:
a)
'Act' means the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, Chapter M-26;
b)
'City' means the municipal corporation of the City of Wetaskiwin;
c)
'City Manager' means the Chief Administrative Officer of the City;
d)
'Council' means the municipal Council of the City of Wetaskiwin;
3.
INTERPRETATION AND APPLICATION
3.1
Without restricting any other power, duty or function granted by this Bylaw, the City Manager
may:
a)
Carry out any inspections to determine compliance with this Bylaw;
b)
Take any steps or carry out any actions required to enforce this Bylaw;
c)
Establish forms for the purposes of this Bylaw;
d)
Establish reasonable criteria to be met for a room of facility to be rented including:
a. Possible security deposit requirement pursuant to this Bylaw;
b. Delegate any powers, duties or functions under this Bylaw to an employee of the
City.
4.
SEVERABILITY
4.1
If a court of competent jurisdiction should declare any section or subsection of this bylaw to
be invalid, such section or subsection shall not be construed as having persuaded or

influenced Council to pass the remainder of the bylaw, and it is hereby declared that the
remainder of the bylaw shall be valid and remain in force.
5.
TRANSITION
5.1
This Bylaw shall repeal Bylaw No. 2073-24 and any amendments thereto on the date of final
passing.
5.2
This bylaw shall come into full force and effect on January 1, 2026.

DEVELOPMENT SECURITY DEPOSITS
* The fee payable for a Business Licence issued after the 31st day of August in any Licence year shall be one-half of the fees listed above, except for the Mobile Vendor Fee and the Event Vendors' Licence.
* No refunds are available for cancelled Business Licences.

NOTE: Development permit extensions and revisions are 100% of the original development permit fee to a max. of $5000.00. The penalty for starting development prior to approval of permits is an additional 100% of the development permit fee. Other fees may apply as s

NOTES:
1. A penalty charge of three per cent (3%) per month shall be charged to all water usage accounts, not paid by the date specified on the bill, on the amount
remaining unpaid after twenty-one days from the mailing of a bill and such interest charges shall be added to and form part of the rates levied.
2. Water Flat Fees (based on meter size) cover the cost of water service lines, the distribution mains in the street, and the transmission main from the water
treatment plant.
3. The Industrial Water Consumption Charge is a fee imposed by the Government of Alberta for industrial water use.

For wastewater which contains more than one of the above parameters, the fee will be calculated individually for each parameter.
NOTES:
1. A penalty charge of three percent (3%) per month on the total amount remaining unpaid after twenty-one (21) days from the mailing of a bill and such interest charges shall be added to and form part of
the rate levied.
2. Wastewater Flat Fee cover the cost of wastewater service lines, the collection mains in the street, and the lift stations and transmission mains to get to the wastewater treatment plant.
3. Wastewater Capital Flat Fee covers the cost of any capital projects for wastewater, including the wastewater treatment plant upgrades.
