BYLAW NO. 1555
OF THE TOWN OF WHITECOURT
IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERT A
A BYLAW OF THE TOWN OF WHITECOURT IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA, to provide for
alternative methods of public notification for advertising statutory notices.
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 606 of the Municipal Government Act, a council must give notice of
certain bylaws, resolutions, meetings, public hearings, or other things by advertising in a newspaper or other
publication circulating in the area, mailing or delivering a notice to every residence in the affected area or by
another method provided for in a bylaw under section 606. 1 ;
AND WHEREAS, pursuant to section 606.1 (1) of the Municipal Government Act, a council may, by
bylaw, provide for one or more methods, which may include electronic means, for advertising proposed bylaws,
resolutions, meetings, public hearings and other things referred to in section 606;
AND WHEREAS, Council is satisfied that tha advertising method set out in this Bylaw is likely to bring
matters advertised by that method to the attention of substantially all residents in the area to which the bylaw,
resolution or other thing relates or in which the meeting or hearing is to be held;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Town of Whitecourt, in the Province of Alberta, duly assembled
enacts as follows:
SHORT TITLE
1. That this Bylaw shall be cited as the "Advertising Bylaw'.
INTERPRETATION
2. In this Bylaw, unless the context otherwise requires, Town means the municipal corporation of !he Town of
Whilecourt.
ADVERTISING METHOD
3. Any notice required lo be advertised under section 606 of the Municipal Government Act of a bylaw,
resolution, meeting, public hearing or other thing may be given:
a) By publishing the title and a statement of the general purpose in at least one {1) newspaper or publication
circulating in Iha area to which the proposed bylaw, resolution or other thing relates, or in which the
meeting or hearing is to ba held;
b) By referring interested parties to the Town's website lor more comprehensive details of the bylaw,
resolution. meeting or public hearing as required in the Act;
c) By publishing the complete notification of the proposed bylaw, resolution or other thing to which the
proposed bylaw or other thing relates for which the meeting or hearing is to be held on the Town's
website for fourteen ( 14} days prior to that event: and,
d) By having hardcopies available at the Town Office for viewing by the public.

ENACTMENT
4. Should any provision of this bylaw be deemed to be invalid then such invalid provision will be
severed from this bylaw and such severance will not affect the validity of the remaining portions
of this bylaw, except to the extent necessary to give elfect lo such severance.
5. This Bylaw shall come into force and take effect on the day of third and final reading thereof.
