## District of Chilliwack
Bylaw No. 496
A bylaw to regulate the sounding of train whistles at various locations within the District of Chilliwack
WHEREAS residents of the District have petitioned Council to enact a bylaw to regulate the sounding of train whistles at various level crossings of the Canadian National Railway;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed desirable to grant the wish of the petitioners;
AND WHEREAS the level crossings involved are protected with automatic warning devices;
THEREFORE the Council of the District of Chilliwack in open meeting assembled enacts as follows:
1. This bylaw may be cited as the "Anti-Whistling Bylaw 1984, No. 496".
2. The "Anti-Whistling Bylaw 1984, No. 446" is hereby repealed.
3. The sounding of any engine whistle in accordance with the provisions of Section 248(1) of the Railway Act, in respect of the following highway crossings of the Canadian National Railway, is hereby prohibited:

4. This bylaw shall come into force on the day upon which the Canadian Transport Cormission has approved the contents hereof and has granted "Urban Municipality" status to the District.

IN THE MATTER OF the application of the District of Chilliwack, in the Province of British Columbia, for approval of its ByLaw No. 496 of 1984, dated October 22, 1984, prohibiting, under Section 248 of the Railway Act, the sounding of engine whistles at the following highway crossings on the Yale Subdivision of the Canadian National Railway Company:
