# Bylaws
Municipal bylaws help keep Courtenay safe, clean and enjoyable for everyone. They set rules for property maintenance and activities that affect others.
Bylaw enforcement is complaint-based. Officers respond to concerns from residents and businesses, with a focus on education and voluntary compliance. If issues are not resolved, enforcement actions may be taken.

Bylaw Enforcement officers work seven days a week:
**Monday to Sunday (seven days a week): 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.**
