City of Kimberley 2026 Tax Rates Bylaw No. 2803, 2026 A bylaw to provide for the levying of tax rates for Municipal, Hospital and Regional District purposes for the year 2026. WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 197 ofthe Community Charter, the Councilshall each year adopt a Bylaw to impose rates on all taxable land and improvements according to their assessed value to provide the money required for the purposes speci?ed inthe Charter, NOW THEREFORE the Council of the City of Kimberley, in open meeting assembled, hereby ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. This Bylaw may be cited for all purposes as "City of Kimberley 2026 Tax Rates Bylaw No. 2803, 2026". The following rates are hereby imposed and levied for the year 2026: (a) For all lawful general purposes of the municipality on the assessed value of land and improvements taxable for general municipal purposes, rates shown in Column "A"of Schedule "A"attached hereto and forming part of this Bylaw; (b) For Kootenay East Regional Hospital District purposes on the assessed value of land and improvements taxable for hospital purposes, rates shown in Column "B" of Schedule "A"attached hereto and forming part of this Bylaw; (c) For purposes of the Regional Districtof East Kootenay on the assessed value of land and improvements taxable for hospital purposes, rates shown in Column "C" of Schedule "A"attached hereto and forming part of this Bylaw. The minimum amount of taxation upon a real property shall be One Dollar ($1.00). The rates and taxes imposed or levied pursuant to this Bylaw are due on or before July 2, 2026. The collector shall, on the 3rdday of July, 2026 or as soon as is practicable thereafter, add to the unpaid taxes for the year 2026, in respect of each parcel of land and the improvements thereon upon the real property tax roll,ten (10%) per centum ofthe amount unpaid as of the close of business on the 2""lday of July, 2026. Except as otherwise provided, words and phrases used in this Bylaw willbe interpreted consistently with the Community Charter and the Interpretation Act. A reference to a statute inthis Bylaw refers to a statute ofthe Province of BritishColumbia, and a reference to any statute or bylaw refers to that enactment as it may be amended or replaced from time to time. Recitals and headings are for convenient reference and must not be construed as de?ning or limiting the scope or intent of the content. If any section, subsection, paragraph, subparagraph or clause of this bylaw is for any reason held invalid by the decision of a Court of competent jurisdiction, then the invalid portion shall be severed and the severance shall not affect the validity of the remainder of the bylaw.
