VILLAGE OF LIONS BAY
BY-LAW NO. 368
BRUNSWICK BEACH WATER SYSTEM PARCEL TAX
A Bylaw to impose a parcel tax on owners of land under the provisions of
Section 200 of the Community Charter.
The Council of the Village of Lions Bay, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows:
1.
This Bylaw may be cited for all purposes as "Brunswick Beach Water System Parcel Tax
Bylaw No. 368, 2005".
WHEREAS the Council of the Village of Lions Bay is empowered by the Community Charter to
impose and levy a parcel tax to provide funding for a service;
AND WHEREAS certain costs have been incurred by the Village of Lions Bay in providing water
services to lands within its boundaries;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed desirable and expedient to impose and levy a parcel tax on land
assembled enacts as follows:
1.
In this bylaw, unless the context otherwise requires:
"Collector" means the designated municipal officer assigned responsibility as collector of
taxes for the municipality;
"Municipality" means Village of Lions Bay.

A tax shall be and is hereby imposed upon the owners of land or real property included on
the Brunswick Beach Water System Parcel Tax Assessment Roll, as shown on Schedule "A"
attached to and forming part of this bylaw, the aforesaid tax to be hereinafter referred to as
the "Parcel tax".
3.
The Parcel tax shall be levied for the 2005 taxation year on each parcel of land
aforementioned and the amount thereof, except as otherwise provided in this bylaw, will be
$365.00 and continue on an annual basis to 2024 (20 years).
4.
Each property owner will have the option to prepay their share of the costs in a lump sum
amounting to $3930 before the first imposition of the tax. The parcels for those property
owners prepaying their share of costs will be exempt from the provisions of this bylaw.
