BYLAW 2386
A BYLAW TO AUTHORIZE THE CHARGING OF FEES FOR VARIOUS MUNICIPAL SERVICES
The Municipal Council for the City of Merritt in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows:
Citation
1. This Bylaw shall be cited as "CITY OF MERRITT FEES AND CHARGES BYLAW NO. 2386, 2024".
Repeal
2. The "CITY OF MERRITT FEES AND CHARGES BYLAW NO. 2358, 2024" and all amendments thereto is
hereby REPEALED.
Details
3. Fees charged by the City of Merritt for applications received, services rendered and goods supplied
shall be in accordance with requirements of the following schedules:

Commercial Group
A Commercial Group is any business, organization, or individual renting a facility for profit-generating,
promotional, or business-related purposes. This includes activities such as paid classes, workshops,
or events where fees are charged, products or services are sold, or the rental supports a commercial
venture.
General Group
A General Group is an individual, private group, non-profit group or organization renting the facility for
non-commercial purposes. This includes personal events like family gatherings or celebrations,
recreational activities and non-profit programs such as educational workshop or community classes.
Community Group
A Community Group is a volunteer-based, non-profit, or grassroots organization that provides
programs, services, or events which benefit the public without the primary intent of generating profit.
To qualify for community rental rates or discounts, the group must meet all of the following criteria:
Volunteer based: Operates through volunteers
Community benefit: Offers activities, programs or events that are free and open to the entire
community
Youth or Public Focused: Serves youth, families or the broader community, rather than a private
membership base or for-profit clientele.
Non-Commercial Purpose: Events or programs are not intended for commercial gain,
fundraising for private purposed or political campaigning
