AMENDMENT BYLAW DATE OF ADOPTION EFFECTIVE DATE (If different from Date of Adoption) Bylaw No. 9718 October 23, 2017 5642209 / 8060-20 CITY OF RICHMOND NUISANCE PROHIBITION BYLAW NO. 6983 The Council of the City of Richmond, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows: PART ONE: GENERAL PROVISIONS 1.1 A person must not do any act, or cause or permit any act to be done, which constitutes a nuisance at law. 1.2 The responsibility for laying the necessary information, pursuant to the Offence Act, rests with the complainant which means an informant or his legal counsel or agent, and the City will not provide resources to pursue an action brought under this bylaw. PART TWO: VIOLATIONS AND PENALTIES 2.1 Any person who: (a) violates or contravenes any provision of this bylaw, or who causes or allows any provision of this bylaw to be violated or contravened; or (b) fails to comply with any of the provisions of this bylaw, any other City bylaw, or any applicable statute; or (c) neglects or refrains from doing anything required under the provisions of this bylaw; or (d) makes any false or misleading statement, commits an offence and upon conviction shall be liable to a fine of not more than Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00), in addition to the costs of the prosecution, and where the offence is a continuing one, each day that the offence is continued shall constitute a separate offence. PART THREE: PREVIOUS BYLAW REPEAL 3.1 Nuisance Bylaw No. 2828 (adopted on March 13th, 1972), is hereby repealed in its entirety. PART FOUR: CITATION 4.1 This Bylaw is cited as "Nuisance Prohibition Bylaw No. 6983".
