## DISTRICT OF STEWART BYLAW NO. 978 - 2020
"A BYLAW FOR THE DISTRICT OF STEWART TO AMEND THE BY-LAW TO REGULATE ANIMAL LICENSING AND CONTROL (816-1986)"
WHEREAS Council may regulate, prohibit and impose requirements in relation to animals further to sections 8(3) (k), 47, 48 and 49 of the Community Charter, including bylaw enforcement and related matters further to sections 260-275 of the Community Charter;
NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the District of Stewart, in open meeting assembled, hereby enacts as follows:
- 1.0 THAT the following definitions be deleted:
## ENCLOSURE:
Means a fence or structure of at least two point four (2.4) metres [six (6) feet] in height forming or causing a confined area suitable to prevent the entry of young children and suitable to confine the dog enclosed.
## LEASH states:
Means a chain, line, thong, rope or other material of sufficient strength that does not exceed two point four (2.4) metres/six (6) feet] in length and that is suitable for control of the dog that it is used for.
- 2.0 AND THAT the following definitions be added:
## ENCLOSURE:
Means a fence or structure of at least one point eight (1.8) metres [six (6) feet] in height forming or causing a confined area suitable to prevent the entry of young children and suitable to confine the dog enclosed.
## LEASH states:
Means a chain, line, thong, rope, or other material of sufficient strength and that is suitable for control of the dog that it is used for.
## 3.0 EFFECTIVE DATE
- 3.1 This Bylaw shall take effect upon adoption.
## 7.0 CITING CLAUSE
7.1 This Bylaw may be cited as "Animal Licensing and Control Amendment Bylaw No. 978 - 2020".
READ a first time this 11t day of May 2020.
READ a second time this 11th day of May 2020.
READ a third time this 25th day of May, 2020.
ADOPTED this 25th day of May, 2020.
