policies/district-bylaws/2025-012-tax-rates-bylaw-2025-%28signed%29.pdf?sfvrsn=7953cafb_0" municipality_ids: - gx-000136 content_type: "application/pdf" captured_at: "2026-06-08T05:38:58+00:00" normalize_method: "pdf-pymupdf" normalize_version: "0.2" needs_ocr: false char_count: 5382 --- THE CORPORATION OF THE DISTRICT OF SUMMERLAND BYLAW NUMBER 2025-012 2025 Tax Rates WHEREAS pursuant to Section 197 of the Community Charter, Council must, by bylaw, impose property value taxes for the year by establishing tax rates for the municipal revenue proposed to be raised for the year from property value taxes as provided in the financial plan, and the amounts to be collected for the year by means of rates established by the municipality to meet its taxing obligations in relation to another local government or other public body; NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Corporation of the District of Summerland in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows: The following taxation rates are hereby imposed and levied for the year 2025: a) For general purposes of the Municipality on the assessed value of land and improvements taxable for general municipal purposes, rates appearing in Column "A" of the Schedule attached to and forming part of this bylaw. b) For purposes of the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen on the assessed value of land and improvements taxable for hospital assessment base purposes, rates appearing in Column "B" of the Schedule attached to and forming part of this bylaw. c) For purposes of the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen for the Sterile Insect Release Program on the assessed land taxable for hospital assessment base purposes, rates appearing in Column "C" of the Schedule attached to and forming part of this bylaw. d) For the purposes of the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen for 911 Emergency Call System and the Mosquito Control Program on the assessed improvements taxable for hospital assessment base purposes, rates appearing in Column "D" of the Schedule attached to and forming part of this bylaw. e) For hospital purposes on the assessed value of land and improvements taxable for hospital assessment base purposes, rates appearing in Column "E" of the Schedule attached to and forming part of this bylaw. f) For the purposes of the Okanagan Regional Library on the assessed value of land and improvements taxable for general municipal purposes, rates appearing in Column "F" of the Schedule attached to and forming part of this bylaw. g) For the purposes of the Prairie Valley Road Rosedale Avenue Debt on the assessed value of land and improvements taxable for general municipal purposes, rates appearing in Column "G" of the Schedule attached to and forming part of this bylaw. h) For the purposes of the RCMP Detachment Building Debt on the assessed value of land and improvements taxable for general municipal purposes, rates appearing in Column "H" of the Schedule attached to and forming part of this bylaw. i) For the purposes of the Giants Head Road Debt on the assessed value of land and improvements taxable for general municipal purposes, rates appearing in Column "I" of the Schedule attached to and forming part of this bylaw. j) For the purposes of the Prairie Valley Road Morrow to Cartwright Debt on the assessed value of land and improvements taxable for general municipal purposes, rates appearing in Column "J" of the Schedule attached to and forming part of this bylaw. 2. The minimum amount of taxation upon a parcel of real property shall be One Dollar ($1.00). 3. Upon the 3rd day of July, 2025, or as soon thereafter as is practicable, the Director of Finance shall add to the unpaid balance of the current year's taxes, in respect of each parcel of land and the improvements as shown upon the Real Property Tax Roll of the District of Summerland for 2025, ten per cent (10%) of the amount unpaid as of the 2nd day of July, 2025. 4. This Bylaw may be cited as "Tax Rates (2025) Bylaw No. 2025-012". Read a first, second and third time this 6th day of May, 2025.
