1. POLICY STATEMENT
To establish standard water connection fees and procedures for new and existing connections
to Municipal services for both urban and rural residents of the Municipality.
2. PROCEDURES
The Gilbert Plains Municipality will offer Water Hookups to approved locations at the following
rates:
URBAN CONNECTION POLICY
1. Base amount of $2,000.00 for distances of 50 ft or less from the property line
2. Additional amount of $25.00/m for distances more than 50 ft from the property line
3. Property owner to engage services of a plumber to hook up water to the residence.
4. Any other equipment required, for example in-house pressure boosters, pressure reducing
valves, flow restrictors, read-out meters or other equipment that may be required or identified
from time to time, shall be installed by qualified individuals and shall be paid for by the property
owner.
RURAL CONNECTION POLICY
1. Base amount of $16,500.00 for distances of 200 ft or less from the main line
2. Additional amount of $25.00/m for distances more than 200 ft from the main line
3. Property owner to engage services of a plumber to hook up water to the residence.
4. Any other equipment required, for example in-house pressure boosters, pressure reducing
valves, flow restrictors, read-out meters or other equipment that may be required or identified
from time to time, shall be installed by qualified individuals and shall be paid for by the property
owner.
5. Additional meters per title property to be tied into mainline as per bulletin 1 and 2 under Rural
Connection Policy
6. The property owner may choose to hire an independent contractor to trench the line for an
initial hook-up. The municipality will be required to supervise at a rate of $30/hr. There are no
additional fees for the pipe or the water meter.
7. All new municipal hook ups must be constructed in municipal ditches.
3. GENERAL

valves, flow restrictors, read-out meters or other equipment that may be required or identified
from time to time, shall be installed by qualified individuals and shall be paid for by the property
owner.
Municipality will conduct a final water test following connection and pay cost for same
Deposit of $1,000 to be paid following request for Urban or Rural connection services
Map & Application form to be signed by both parties in advance of any work.
Water connection fees may change or vary as approved by the Municipality.
Municipality will be responsible for fill from main entry to the curb stop.
INTEREST CHARGES AND NON-PAYMENT OF INVOICES:
For any work that hasn't been paid for in advance, applicant will be invoiced for public works
undertaken by the municipality, at the rates fixed in this policy and/or private works policy.
Payment is due on receipt of invoice from the municipality.
Accounts which become past due (over 30 days) as of the 25th of each month will be subject to
an interest charge of no more than 1.25% per month and will be issued a statement detailing the
outstanding charge and any associated interest charges.
Charges that remain outstanding as of December 1st of that year, may, by resolution, be
transferred to the municipal tax roll and be collected in the same manner as taxes in arrears.
DISCLAIMER
The Council reserves the right to modify or waive any costs and such decision must be
authorized by resolution of Council.
