Unpaid Family Leave
Effective Date: December 2, 2015
Resolution No 2015-456
Purpose:
The purpose of this policy is to outline the Municipality's policy regarding unpaid family
leave as defined by Manitoba Employment Standards.
Definitions:
Employee: A full-time, part-time, or seasonal employee.
Family: Children, Stepchildren, Grandchildren, Parents, Grandparents, Spouses,
Common-law Spouses, Brother, Sister, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, a person who is
not related but considered a family member.
Procedure:
An employee may take up to 3 days per year of unpaid leave for personal illness or
family responsibilities. These days are not deducted from your sick leave.
