Grandview Municipality
Fences and Undeveloped Road Allowances
Effective Date: August 10, 2016
Resolution No 2016-237
Purpose:
The purpose of this policy is to outline the policy and procedures for all landowners
constructing a permanent or temporary fences adjacent to an undeveloped road
allowance.
Definitions:
Road allowances: land reserved for road construction; a stretch of land reserve for the
development of a public road
Fence: a structure erected to enclose an area and act as a barrier, especially
one made of wood or with posts and wire
Policy
1. No fences shall be constructed on an undeveloped road allowance within the
RM of Grandview unless an application if filed first.
2. The RM of Grandview will not allow an undeveloped road allowance to be
cleared unless for municipal purposes or approved by Council
3. Any person violating any provision of this policy shall be liable to the RM of
Grandview for any expense suffered by the municipality as a result of the
violation and be liable for the cost of repairs.
4. As a result of that violation the RM of Grandview may charge the cost of the
violation to that person, or add the cost to the tax roll and collect in the same
manner as ordinary taxes.
