Smoke-Free Workplace
Effective Date: June 29, 2016
Resolution 2016-198
All areas of the workplace are smoke-free without exception. Smoking is not permitted
anywhere in the workplace, including all indoor facilities (offices, workshops, meeting
rooms, lunchrooms) and any company vehicles/municipal equipment.
"No Smoking" signs are to be clearly posted at all entrances and on bulletin boards,
bathrooms, stairwells and other prominent places. No ashtrays are permitted in any
indoor area.
Smoking shall only be permitted in clearly designated outdoor areas.
Compliance with the smoke-free workplace is mandatory for all employees and visitors
with no exceptions. Employees to violate this policy are subject to disciplinary action.
The Municipality encourages all smoking employees to quit smoking.
