Subject: Rental of Municipal Equipment
Passed by Resolution of Council:
BACKGROUND
Hamiota Municipality receives requests from time to time to use municipal equipment for
various reasons. Section 250(2) (d) (e) states as follows;
General Powers
250(2) Without limiting the generality of subsection (1), a municipality may for municipal
purposes do the following;
d)
Enter into agreements with one or more of the following regarding anything the
municipality has power to do within the municipality:
i.
a person,
ii.
the Government of Canada or one of its agencies,
iii.
the Government of Manitoba or one of its agencies,
iv.
a local authority,
v.
a band as defined in the Indian Act (Canada),
vi.
another municipality in Manitoba or a municipality in another province;
(e) Use municipal equipment, materials and labour to carry out private works on private
property.
Council has determined that the use of municipal equipment by other parties is acceptable
providing it does not conflict with this policy.
POLICY/PROCEDURE
1. Municipal equipment will not be used where it is deemed to be in competition with
private contractors.
2. No equipment will be loaned or rented if it is first required in the operation of the
Municipality.
3. No Municipal equipment is to leave the Municipal boundaries to do custom work without
prior permission of Council excluding the steamer.
4. The following rates will apply to the rental of the Municipally owned equipment;
Packer wobbly wheel
$500.00 per day
Scraper
$500 a day In / $750.00 per day out
Big pump 16" water pump with hose
$450.00 per day
Loader with operator
$160.00 per hour
Steamer and Operator
$100.00 per hour
Steamer and 2 Operators
$125.00 per hour
Steamer after hours surcharge
Cost is double
Power snake
Minimum 1 hour / $50.00 per hour
Manual snake
$10.00 per hour
Extra Hose CAO request
Pump 2" gas
$50.00 per day
Pump 3" and 2" submersible -council request
$75.00 per day
Sheep foot packer
$250.00 per day
Labour Charges
$55.00 per hour
Cat trailer - within the municipality
$100.00 per day
Jump 'n' Jack/packer
$50.00 per day
Public works is responsible for maintaining records for rental equipment
If there is no rate provided for the rental of equipment to be used outside of the
Municipality then it will be set at the discretion of council
GRADER:
Our Charges:
Govt. Rates
$175 per hour for ratepayer
$189 per hour (2015)
Fee for work outside of the Municipality to be min. $200.00 per hour
Let ratepayers know of price change
Lanes: charge by the hour, base minimum charge 1/2 $87.50
Bins: charge by the hour, base minimum charge ½ hour $87.50
SEWER CAM:
$150.00 per hour from the time the employee leaves to the time they return - Includes operator.
