HAMIOTA MUNICIPALITIES Policies and Procedures Policy Number: 100.4 Section: Administration Subject: Sale of Surplus Lands Passed by Resolution of Council: #5 - April 20, 2016 BACKGROUND The Hamiota Municipality is the registered owner of numerous properties in and around the boundaries of the municipality. Many of these properties are deemed to be surplus and for sale. Section 250(2) (a) states as follows; General Powers 250(2) without limiting the generality of subsection (1), a municipality may for municipal purposes do the following: a) acquire, hold, mortgage and dispose of land, improvements and personal property, or an interest in land, improvements and personal property; POLICY/PROCEDURE 1. All properties owned by the Hamiota Municipality will be sold on a parcel by parcel basis. 2. Council will respond to each offer to purchase in writing with an acceptance, acceptance with conditions, refusal or desire to pursue further negotiations. 3. Hamiota Municipality will oversee the administration of all sales of land and choose legal Counsel to finalize the sale. Appendix:  Infill Residential lots are priced at a base rate of $0.35 per square feet.  All lots are negotiable
