## BY-LAW NO. 2025-03
BEING A BY-LAW OF THE HAMIOTA MUNICIPALITY TO REGULATE AND ESTABLISH A REDUCED SPEED WITHIN A SCHOOL ZONE
BEING A BY-LAW for the Municipality of Hamiota to regulate and establish a
reduced speed within a school zone.
WHEREAS Section 98.1 of the Highway Traffic Act (C.C.S.M. c. H60) and the Reduced-Speed School Zones Regulation No. 136/2013 authorize a council to pass by-laws establishing the reduced maximum permitted speed for vehicles being driven on a highway or roadway within a school zone within the geographic boundaries of the municipality; and AND WHEREAS Council of Hamiota Municipality believes that it is in the best interest of Hamiota Municipality to establish school zones with a reduced maximum speed for vehicles;

NOW THEREFORE the Council of Hamiota Municipality, duly assembled, enacts as follows: 1. THAT this By-law may be called the "Reduced-Speed School Zone By-

THAT for the purpose of this By-Law, "highway", "roadway", "reducedspeed school zone", "school", "school property", "traffic control device" and "vehicle" have the same meanings as set out in the Highway Traffic Act and the Reduced-Speed Zones Regulation No. 136/2013 and as may be amended from time to time.

4. The maximum permitted speed for vehicles being driven in a reduced-speed school zone on a highway or roadway is:
a. 30 km/h Times when reduced-speed school zones apply at all times within a reduced-speed school zone.
5. The reduced maximum permitted speeds established under section 4 apply Traffic Control Devices
6. The Municipality shall identify a reduced-speed school zone with traffic control devices that comply with the Reduced-Speed School Zones Regulation No. 136/2013
