## Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the removal of trees on Municipal property or Public Reserve is done in a controlled manner that is beneficial to the Municipality and the property owner adjacent to the Municipal property or Public Reserve.
## Policy Statement
The Municipality is committed to establish a policy to regulate the removal of trees on Municipal property and Public Reserve.
## Responsibility
Owners of property adjacent to the municipal property that would like to remove a tree from municipal property or Public Reserve are required to submit the following information in a written application prior to the removal of the tree/s.
- Your name, mailing address, telephone number.
- Rationale for the tree removal.
## Authority
The first contact should be Municipality of Killarney - Turtle Mountain Council.
## Implementation Procedures
1. Council has the right to allow or refuse the removal of the requested tree.
2. New or replacement of existing water/sewer lines
2. The following reasons will considered for tree removal:
4. New building and or addition
- d) Municipal road needs widening to allow for better access.
6. Where the tree is causing a safety concern
3. The Municipality is responsible for the cost of removal trees that are damaged or diseased.
4. The cost of removal will be borne by the person making the request for removal of healthy trees.
5. Tree/s removal that is approved by Council prior to removal will not be subject to a charge.
6. Tree/s removal prior to Council's permission being granted will be subject to a fine as follows:
1 tree removed
2 to 5 trees removed
5 or an undetermined # of trees removed
