POLICY STATEMENT In order to facilitate a safe and fair process, the following operating principles have been adopted as the foundation for this policy: - The Municipality will endeavor to ensure that residential or business property owners or occupants take responsibility for snow on their own yards PROCEDURE 1. The owner of a property is responsible for snow that accumulates on their property and also on the boulevard and adjacent ditch. 2. Should a property owner clear away snow from their property and take it to another location they must ensure it is placed where it provides no enticement to children for them to use as a playground. For example, the snow should not be piled so as to be adjacent to a roadway. 3. Should it be found that snow has been piled on municipal property and the municipality deems it to be in contravention of item 2 as above, the property owner responsible for such snow will be asked to move the snowpile to a different location. Such notification will be sent in writing with a timeframe of 2 weeks to carry out the work. 4. Should such a request not be adhered to, arrangements will be made for the work to be carried out by either municipal staff or a contractor and the expense incurred in such work will be actioned as an Accounts Receivable to the property owner.
