<!-- image --> ## MUNICIPALITY OF ROBLIN ## POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL | Section: Finance & Administration | Policy No.: F/A-003 | |--------------------------------------|---------------------------| | Subject: Youth Member Bursary Policy | Date Issued: June 9, 2020 | | Resolution No. 2020- | Revision Date: | ## BACKGROUND: The Organizational By-law for the Municipality of Roblin provides authority for Council to appoint a person with the title "Youth Member" to sit with the Council and to participate in Council deliberations. ## A youth member must be: - less than 18 years of age or enrolled as a full-time student at Goose Lake High School, and - a resident of the Municipality. The term of office for a youth member is to be established with the appointment but should not exceed one year. The appointment is done by resolution of Council. ## PURPOSE: The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines to provide a bursary to students that have served their community by being a Youth Member for the Municipality of Roblin and are pursuing post-secondary education or a trade. ## POLICY: 1. The Youth Member must have been actively involved with the Council of the Municipality of Roblin and attending regular council meetings. 2. The $500.00 bursary shall be issued to the Youth Member after he/she has provided verification of paid registration for the second semester at the post-secondary school of his/her choice. In the case of trade school, Council will amend the timeline as it sees fit. 3. The deadline to claim the bursary is 18 months from graduation at Goose Lake High School: 4. If a Youth Member requires an extension beyond the 18-month period, he/she must submit the request to Council in writing.
