POLICY:
FLOOD PROTECTION POLICY
POLICY #2.24
REFERENCE SECTION:
RESOLUTION NO.
2014-263
COUNCIL MEETING DATE: OCTOBER 15, 2014
BY-LAW NO.
COUNCIL MEETING DATE:
The following policy will govern flood protection within the municipality.
The municipality will consider residences only when it comes to providing flood protection.
When flood conditions are deemed a possibility, the R.M. of Dauphin will supply sand and sandbags to ratepayers of the
R.M. of Dauphin only.
The municipality will not be responsible for sandbagging.
Where a permanent residence is in danger of flooding and Tiger Tubing would be a benefit, the municipality may arrange
with M.I.T./E.M.O. for the delivery and supervise the filling and removing of the tiger tubing. Any costs to repair damaged
tubing will be the responsibility of the ratepayer and will be charged as per the current Fees and Charges By-Law.
This policy will also govern continued requests for tiger tubing. The municipality will not provide and assist with the
installation of tiger tubes on more than one occasion as it is to be considered a private homeowner responsibility to
ensure permanent protection of their residence.
The required liability/responsibility release form must be completed by the ratepayer/landowner when requesting tiger
tubing or other flood protection equipment/pumps.
