OF WALLACE-WOODWORTH GENERAL POLICY Kenton Snow Policy November 8, 2022 Approved by: Resolution No. 22/331 Revision Date: NA No. of Pages: 3 POLICY The Rural Municipality of Wallace-Woodworth Transportation Department's objective is to deliver an efficient and cost-effective Winter Maintenance Plan for all roadways within the Town limits of the Local Urban District of Kenton that enables the safe movement of all modes of transportation and pedestrian traffic with a minimum delay throughout the winter period while keeping in mind the safety of the employees at all times. PURPOSE The purpose of this policy is to establish a schedule and service levels for winter maintenance in the LUD of Kenton. This will be referred to as the Kenton Snow Policy. SCOPE This policy applies to the R.M.'s snow plowing and snow clearance at intersections and residential driveways in the LUD of Kenton. PROCEDURE A. Winter Maintenance Period 1. The Winter Maintenance period will be any snow event. Shift scheduling will be implemented at the discretion of the Public Works Superintendent or their designate as dictated by weather and as required. Kenton Public Works Staff will report to start work at 7:00 a.m. on days designated by the Public Works Superintendent or their designate. 2. Weekend call in may be requested by the Public Works Superintendent or their designate as weather conditions dictate. Kenton Snow Policy Page 2 of 3 R.M. Above schedules may change at the discretion of Public Works Superintendent or their designate. B. Priorities Following a significant snow fall event and implementation of the Kenton Snow Policy by the Public Works Superintendent or their designate, Kenton Public Works Staff are to plow snow in the Kenton LUD prior to leaving for rural municipal roads. Priority 1 (7:00 a.m., as illustrated in yellow on Schedule A Map) Street Distance (miles) Woodworth Ave. (daycare, bus shelter) 0.5 Cornwall Street (including Fire Hall, R.M. office lot) 0.3 Arthur Street 0.3 Harvey Ave. 0.3 York Street 0.1 Earl Street 0.1 Grey Street (north and south) 0.3 Gould Ave. 0.1 Railway Ave. 0.1 Lawlor Ave. 0.1 TOTAL 2.4 miles Driveways Depending on staff availability, Public Works Superintendent or their designate will assign a Public Works Staff to operate the R.M. Loader to clear driveways and Priority 2 locations. In the event that Public Works Staff is unavailable, Public Works Superintendent or their designate will hire a local contractor to clear driveways with a private equipment.
