## THE RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF WEST ST. PAUL
## BY-LAW NO. 2025-13
## BEING A BY-LAW OF THE RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF WEST ST. PAUL TO REGULATE AND ESTABLISH REDUCED- SPEED SCHOOL ZONE AREAS ON DESIGNATED HIGHWAYS AND TO REPEAL BY-LAW 2023-12.
WHEREAS Section 98.1 of The Highway Traffic Act and the Reduced-Speed School Zones Regulation No. 136/2013 authorize a municipality to pass a by-law establishing reduced maximum permitted speed for vehicles being driven on a highway within a school zone with the geographic boundaries of a municipality;
AND WHEREAS The Rural Municipality of West St. Paul deems it advisable and in the best interests of the Municipality to establish a reduced-speed school zone with a reduced maximum speed for vehicles;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Municipality of West St. Paul enacts as a by-law the following:
## TITLE
- 1.0 THAT this by-law may be referred to as the "Reduced-Speed School Zone By-Law".
## INTERPRETATION
- 2.0 THAT for the purposes of this By-Law, "highway", "reduced-speed school zone", "school", "school property", "traffic control device", and "vehicle" have the same meanings as set out in The Highway Traffic Act and the Reduced-Speed School Zones Regulation No. 136/2013 and as may be amended from time to time.
## REDUCED-SPEED SCHOOL ZONES
- 3.0 THAT the maximum speed limit for vehicles traveling along a portion of highway described herein within 150 metres along the highway in either direction beyond the school property line is 30km/hour between 7:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday from September 1 through to and including June 30.
- 3.1 THAT the maximum speed limit for vehicles traveling along a portion of highway described herein is 30km/hour between 7:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday from September 1 through to and including June 30.
- 3.2 THAT the maximum speed limit for vehicles traveling along a portion of highway described herein within 150 metres along the highway in either direction beyond the school property line is 50km/hour between 7:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday from September 1 through to and including June 30.

## TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES
- THAT the Municipality shall identify the reduced-speed school zone with traffic control devices that comply with Reduced-Speed School Zones Regulation No. 136/2013.
## BY-LAW NO. 2023-12 REPEALED
- 5.0 THAT By-Law No. 2023-12 of the Rural Municipality of West St. Paul is hereby repealed upon the coming into effect of this by-law.
