## Consolidated By-law ## CITY OF THOMPSON BY-LAW 1882-2012 [As amended by AM B/L 1922-2014] [As amended by AM B/L 1932-2015] BEING A BY-LAW OF THE CITY OF THOMPSON FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHMENT AND IDENTIFICATION OF SCHOOL ZONES, AND THEREGULATION OF SPEED LIMITS THEREIN . WHEREAS Bill 3-The Highway Traffic Amendment Act (Speed limits in School Zones) authorizes a Municipality to make rules or By-Laws in relation to School Zones and speed limits within its boundaries; AND WHEREAS the City of Thompson deems it necessary and expedient to adopt a By-Law for the purpose of designating and identifying School Zones and speed limits therein; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the City of Thompson duly assembled enacts as follows; ## Short Title 1. This By-law may be referred to as the 'Reduced-Speed School Zones By-law'. [AM B/L 1922-2014] ## Definitions 'reduced-speed school zone' means any school zone identified in the attached 2. In this By-law Schedule. [AM B/L 1922-2014] ## Reduced speed in school zones 3. No person shall drive a vehicle at a rate of speed greater than 30 kilometers per hour in any reduced-speed school zone within the City of Thompson. [AM B/L 1922-2014] ## Limitations on reduced speed limits 4. The reduced speed limits in section 3 apply between the hours of 08:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday during the months of September to June inclusive in the following school areas : - a. Riverside School - b. Westwood School - c. Deerwood School - d. Juniper School - e. Burntwood School f. - g. Wapanohk School - Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine (DSFM) [AM B/L 1922-2014] [AM B/L 1932-2015] 5. The following areas as identified as below and in attached Schedule 'A' shall be designated as School Zones; [AM B/L 1922-2014] ## Riverside School - Riverside Drive from the North East corner of the intersection at Riverside Drive and Silver Crescent to the North East corner of the intersection at Riverside Drive and Granite Crescent. - Copper Road from the South West property line of 52 Copper Road to the North East property line of 99 Copper Road. ## Westwood School - Mallard Crescent from the North East property line of 24 Mallard Crescent to the North West property line of 68 Mallard Crescent. ## Deerwood School - Beaver Crescent from the West corner of the intersection at Beaver Crescent and Staghorn Drive to the South property line of 75 Beaver Crescent. ## Juniper School - Juniper Drive from the South West property line of 282 Juniper Drive to the North West corner of the intersection at Juniper Drive and Ash Street. - Hemlock Crescent from the North East property line of 40 Hemlock Crescent to the South East corner of the intersection at Hemlock Crescent and Ash Street. - Ash Street from the North East corner of the intersection at Hemlock Crescent and Ash Street to the North East corner of the intersection at Ash Street and Juniper Drive. - Cypress Crescent from the South West property line of 36 Cypress Crescent to the South East corner of the intersection of Cypress Crescent and Juniper Drive. ## Burntwood School - Arctic Drive from the South West Corner of the intersection at Arctic Drive and Goldeye Crescent to 150 feet South West of the South West property line of 160 Arctic Drive. - Wekusko Street from the North West corner of the intersection at Wekusko Street and Wuskwatim Bay to the North West corner of the intersection at Wekusko Street and Arctic Drive. ## Wapanohk School - Princeton Drive from the South West corner of the intersection at 424 Princeton Drive Parking lot and Princeton Drive to the South West corner of the intersection at Princeton Drive and Stanford Bay. - Station Road from the North West corner of UCN parking lot to the South East corner of the intersection at Station Road and Brandon Crescent. ## Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine (DSFM) - Weir Road from the North East corner of the intersection at Weir Road and Cree Road to the South West corner of the intersection of Weir Road and Wolf Street [AM B/L 1932-2015] 6. This By-law shall come into full force and effect upon the day following the date of final passage.
