# Municipal Plan and Zoning By-Laws
Zoning by-laws are a method of regulating the use of land by specifying a specific range of permitted functions and uses. When renovating or developing property for residential or business purposes, there are a number of zoning regulations that must be considered. The Planning and Development department is responsible for the enforcement of these by-laws.
