The following information is to promote understanding of the terms, conditions, rules and
regulations governing the Bristol Community Cemetery.
1.
Vault use- The price is $100 per person regardless of where they reside. There is
to be no digging of graves allowed in the cemetery from November 1st until
after "Mother's Day." The deceased must be interred in the vault throughout the
winter months.
2.
Cemetery- A double plot is 99 square feet; the price is $500. A single plot is 49.5
square feet; the price is $250. No permanent structures, other than headstones or
markers are allowed on gravesites. For example: trees, shrubs, fences, ornamental
accessories, etc., with the exception of flower arrangements that clip onto the
headstone.
3.
Maintenance- The Council of the District of Carleton North will be responsible for
general care and maintenance of the Bristol Community Cemetery such as mowing,
clipping around stones, filling in of graves that have settled, straightening of
headstones etc.
4.
Headstones or markers- The Town Office must be notified when a new
headstone or marker is to be placed at a gravesite. Town maintenance personnel
will determine the correct location and is the only person authorized to place a
marker for the headstone installation.
5.
Digging graves- Private individuals or contractors hired to dig graves are also
responsible for cleaning up the site. They must remove all excess dirt, rocks,
debris etc. from the site to the designated dumping site, which will be assigned by a
Town employee.
