Security Camera Rebate (07-2025) Page 1 POLICY 07-2025 SECURITY CAMERA REBATE PROGRAM For a limited time, Eastern Charlotte is offering a maximum of one (1) rebate for the owner of a residence who installs a security camera(s) on the exterior of their property. The rebate amount is for a maximum of one hundred dollars ($100.00) and is subject to the conditions outlined below. The rebate program will run from June 1, 2025, through August 31, 2025, depending on available funds. Council will evaluate the program annually based on budget discussions and participation from the public. Public Safety is a priority for the Council, and it is believed the addition of security cameras through the municipality will support law enforcement, deter criminal activity, and contribute to the overall safety and security of the community. GENERAL PROVISIONS - This program is available for owners of residential properties located within the municipal boundaries of Eastern Charlotte. - Eligible security camera systems purchased on or after June 1, 2025, through August 31, 2025, will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. - Rebates will be issued until funding is exhausted. If funding is exhausted before August 31, 2025, the public will be notified through the municipal website and social media. - Applications received after funding is exhausted will not be held for future consideration. - Only valid applications will be accepted. - A separate application is required for each property where a new camera system is installed, identified with a PAN/PID. REQUIREMENTS An applicant must meet the following requirements: - Own the residence where the cameras are installed, within the boundaries of Eastern Charlotte; - Consent to provide security camera footage to Eastern Charlotte and law enforcement (such as the RCMP) to assist with investigations into crime occurring in the community. Security Camera Rebate (07-2025) Page 2 A camera system must meet the following requirements: - Retain video footage for at least forty-eight (48) hours; - Be installed on the exterior of a building; - Be designed for the outdoors and waterproof/weatherproof and not a camera designed for indoor use only, or a modified indoor use camera; and, - Meet the minimum technical and video quality specifications below. Minimum Specifications Camera Resolution 3 megapixels or higher Screen Resolution 2048 x 1536 pixels Video Quality High Frames per Second 15 fps Storage* 64 GB or higher * Systems may allow SD cards to be installed for increased storage capacity APPLICATION PROCESS 1. To apply for the Security Camera Rebate, complete the Rebate Application Form. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2025. Only valid applications will be accepted. Rebates will be issued until funding is exhausted. 2. Attach proof of purchase and installation of the camera system, including: a. An itemized receipt showing cameras and recording system, dated on or after June 1, 2025, through August 31, 2025; b. A photograph of each camera installed in place, or a receipt for professional installation. 3. Return the application and supporting material to the Municipal Office by one of the following: a. In person or by mail to: Eastern Charlotte 1 School Street St. George, NB E5C 3N2 b. Via email at [email protected]. AFTERWORD Applicants are responsible for keeping their camera system functional. A dysfunctional or non-functional camera system does not benefit the community and cannot contribute to improving public safety. A broken or dysfunctional camera may constitute a compliance issue. It is encouraged that such issues are addressed as soon as possible.
