## Town Hall / By-laws
Local governments have a significant impact on people's daily lives. By-laws developed for the community are the enabling legislation that helps shape policy, development and financial decisions to achieve the common goals of the community.
Three provincial laws govern municipalities in New Brunswick and shape their scope: the Local Governance Act, the Community Planning Act and the Regional Service Delivery Act. Through these acts of legislation, the By-laws of Hampton are developed before being brought to the Council for review. Each by-law proposal, or proposed change, must undergo three readings at public meetings of the Council before being enacted to ensure the public's participation in the process.

**Public Notice:**
May 19, 2026
Pursuant to Section 111 of the *Community Planning Act*, Public Notice is hereby given that the Council of the town of Hampton intends to hold a public hearing to consider amendments to its Zoning By-law on June 9, 2026, at 7pm in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 648 Main Street, Hampton.
The amendments being considered, under the authority of the *Community Planning Act,* would:
* Establish a new Medium Industrial (IM) zone; and
* Amend Schedule A: Zoning Map PID 30195580 from Industrial (I) zone to Medium Industrial (IM) zone.
The draft amendments to the Zoning By-law can be viewed by clicking on the link below, by visiting Town Hall from Monday to Friday during regular business hours, by contacting the Clerk's Office at [email protected] or by calling 506-832-6065. Questions regarding the proposed amendments can be directed to the Planning Department at [email protected] .
Anyone wishing to offer an opinion on the proposed by-law amendments may do so in person at the Public Hearing or in writing. Written comments will be accepted until noon on June 5, 2026, and can be sent to the Clerk's office via email to [email protected], by mail at Hampton, P.O. Box 1066, 648 Main Street, Hampton, NB, E5N 8H1 or delivered in person to Town Hall, 648 Main Street, Hampton.
