Commendation of Council Award Policy No. 2025-03 Commendation of Council Award Policy Purpose The Harvey Rural Community Council Commendation recognizes acts of bravery, exceptional volunteer service, or extraordinary contributions to community life. The award reflects Council's commitment to honoring those who go above and beyond in protecting life, property, or enhancing the well-being of the community. Eligibility - Open to all residents, staff, and volunteers connected to the Harvey Rural Community. - May be awarded to individuals, groups, organizations, or departments. - May be awarded posthumously. Frequency - Awarded as needed, at the discretion of Council. - Typically presented during a regular Council meeting or at a community event such as Harvey Community Days. Format of Recognition - A framed certificate presented publicly by the Mayor and/or Council. - A permanent record of recipients will be maintained by Administration and published on the HRC website and in the Annual Report. - Additional recognition (e.g., municipal pin, medal, or public feature in municipal communications) may be provided at Council's discretion. Nominations - Nominations may be submitted by Council members, staff, or members of the public. - Nominations must be submitted in writing to Administration. - All nominations will be reviewed by Council, and recipients will be confirmed by Council resolution. Commendation of Council Award Policy No. 2025-03 Presentation Protocol - Awards will be presented publicly by the Mayor and/or CAO on behalf of Council. - When possible, recipients will be notified in advance to ensure attendance at the presentation. Record-Keeping - Administration will maintain the official record of all recipients, ensuring names are published on the municipal website and in the Annual Report. Discretion Clause - Council retains full discretion to consider and approve awards for extraordinary acts or contributions that may not fall strictly within the eligibility criteria outlined in this policy.
