FLAG DISPLAY POLICY
Policy Objective:
The purpose of this Flag Policy is to establish a
clear, inclusive, and consistent policy regarding the
display of flags on municipal property. This policy
reflects the municipality's commitment to unity,
neutrality, and the equal dignity of all community
members. The national, provincial, and municipal
flags are displayed in a respectful and dignified
manner, representing all residents of Maple Hills,
regardless of background, identity, or beliefs.
Policy Guidelines:
1) Scope
This Flag Policy applies to all flags displayed on
flagpoles and other approved locations at facilities,
buildings, and properties owned, leased, or
operated by the Maple Hills Rural Community.
2) Responsibility
a) The Chief Administrative Officer, the Clerk,
or their duly appointed designate shall
have the authority to direct the raising and
lowering of flags on all properties and
facilities owned or operated by the Maple
Hills Rural Community, in accordance with
this policy and applicable provincial flag
protocol.
b) The Chief Administrative Officer and the
Clerk shall notify Council whenever flags
are raised, displayed, or ordered to be
flown at half-mast.
3) Supporting Authority
a) Flying and Displaying Flags in New
Brunswick : Rules Governing the Use of
Flags and Standards

Objectif de la politique :
L'objectif de la présente politique sur les drapeaux
est d'établir une politique claire, inclusive et
cohérente concernant l'affichage des drapeaux sur
les propriétés municipales. Cette politique reflète
l'engagement de la municipalité envers l'unité, la
neutralité et la dignité égale de tous les membres
de la communauté. Les drapeaux national,
provincial et municipal sont affichés de manière
respectueuse et digne, représentant l'ensemble
des résidents de Maple Hills, quelles que soient
leur origine, leur identité ou leurs croyances.
Lignes directrices de la politique:
1) Champs d'application
La présente politique d'affichage des drapeaux
s'applique à tous les drapeaux arborés sur les mâts
de
drapeau
et
aux
autres
emplacements
approuvés dans les installations, bâtiments et
propriétés appartenant à la Communauté rurale de
Maple Hills, loué par celle-ci ou exploité par celle-
ci.
2) Responsabilité
a) La direction générale, le greffier ou leur
mandataire dûment désigné sont autorisés
à ordonner la mise en berne ou la levée
des
drapeaux
sur
l'ensemble
des
propriétés et installations appartenant ou
exploitées par la Communauté rurale de
Maple Hills, conformément à la présente
politique
et
au
protocole
provincial
applicable sur les drapeaux.
b) La direction générale et le greffier doivent
aviser le Conseil chaque fois que des
drapeaux
sont
hissés,
exposés
ou
ordonnés d'être mis en berne.
3) Autorité de référence

4) Authorized Flags
Only the following flags are authorized for display
on municipal property: the National Flag of
Canada, the Provincial Flag of New Brunswick, and
the official Municipal Flag of the Maple Hills Rural
Community.
No other flags shall be displayed on municipal
flagpoles or facilities unless expressly authorized
by Council resolution.
5) Order of Precedence
When more than one flag is flown, flags shall be
displayed in the following order of precedence, in
accordance with provincial protocol: the National
Flag of Canada, the Provincial Flag of New
Brunswick, and the Municipal Flag of the Maple
Hills Rural Community.
6) Display and Etiquette
All authorized flags shall be displayed, raised,
lowered, and maintained in a respectful manner
consistent with the Government of New Brunswick:

Flags that are torn, faded, or otherwise unfit for
display shall be removed and replaced.
7) Half-Masting
The half-masting of flags shall follow the
Government of New Brunswick: Flying and
Displaying Flags in New Brunswick : Rules
Governing the Use of Flags and Standards. The
Chief Administrative Officer, Clerk or designate, is
authorized
to
implement
half-masting
in
accordance with provincial guidance.
8) Approval and Amendments
This policy shall be reviewed annually and updated
as necessary to ensure continued alignment with
provincial flag protocol. Amendments may be
made by Council as required.
4) Drapeaux autorisés
Seuls les drapeaux suivants sont autorisés à être
affichés sur les propriétés municipales : le drapeau
national du Canada, le drapeau provincial du
Nouveau-Brunswick et le drapeau officiel de la
Communauté rurale de Maple Hills.
Aucun autre drapeau ne peut être affiché sur les
mâts ou les installations municipales, sauf
autorisation expresse par résolution du Conseil.
5) Ordre de préséance
Lorsque plusieurs drapeaux sont hissés, ils doivent
être affichés selon l'ordre de préséance suivant,
conformément au protocole provincial : le drapeau
national du Canada, le drapeau provincial du
Nouveau-Brunswick
et
le
drapeau
de
la
Communauté rurale de Maple Hills.
6) Affichage et Étiquette
Tous les drapeaux autorisés doivent être affichés,
hissés, abaissés et entretenus de manière
respectueuse,
conformément
au
document
Gouvernement du Nouveau-Brunswick : Volant et
l'affichage des drapeaux au Nouveau-Brunswick :
Règles régissant l'utilisation des drapeaux et
étendards au Nouveau-Brunswick.
Les drapeaux déchirés, fanés ou jugés inaptes à
l'affichage, doivent être retirés et remplacés.
7) Hissage en berne
Le hissage des drapeaux en berne doit suivre le
document Gouvernement du Nouveau-Brunswick :
Volant et l'affichage des drapeaux au Nouveau-
Brunswick : Règles régissant l'utilisation des
drapeaux et étendards au Nouveau-Brunswick. La
direction générale, le greffier ou leur représentant
désigné est autorisé à mettre en œuvre le hissage
en berne conformément aux directives provinciales.
8) Approbation et amendements
La
présente
politique
doit
être
révisée
annuellement et mise à jour au besoin afin
d'assurer son alignement continu avec le protocole
provincial sur les drapeaux. Des modifications
peuvent être apportées par le Conseil selon les
besoins.
