VILLAGE OF MCADAM
BY - LAW NO. 8
A BY - LAW RESPECTING SEWER RENTALS
PASSED AUGUST 18, 1967
BE IN ENACTED by the Mayor and
Councilors of the Village of
McAdam as follows:

In this By - Law "owner" means the person in whose name a property is assessed
under the Assessment Act, Statutes of New Brunswick, 1965-66, c. 110 as
amended and includes the executors, administrators and assigns of such person.
2.
The owner of a property is liable for all sewer rentals imposed in respect of suck
property whether occupied by himself or his tenants and shall pat to the Village
all such rentals.
3. (1) The owner of a property shall pay an annual sewer rental of an amount
determined by an annual resolution of the council.
(2) The Council shall determine separate sewer rental rates on the following basis:
(a) Domestic Use:
For each family unit in a dwelling house, apartment house or other building;
(b) Commercial Use:
For each building or portion thereof used or occupied as a hotel, boarding house,
rooming house, store, office, laundry or other commercial, educational or
professional purpose; and churches, manufacturing establishments and Dominion
and Provincial Government buildings.
(c) Industrial or Special Use Rates:
For hospitals, industrial and transportation establishments and other large users.
4.
The time of payment of the sewer rentals shall be determined by the Council.
5.
The council by resolution may provide for a discount for prompt payment of
sewer rentals.

Upon applications of an owner the Village Treasurer or an allowance for any
cause which he deems proper.
7.
When any rentals remain unpaid for a period of six months after the same became
payable, the Village Treasurer shall add a penalty for non-payment amounting to
six percent thereof, and when such rentals remain unpaid for a period of eighteen
months after the same became payable, the penalty shall be increased to eight
percent, but no further increase shall be made in the penalty.
